Tatjana Lazic Tatjana Lazic    DVM, MS, PhD, Diplomate American College of Veterinary Pathologists

Dr. Lazic obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Belgrade, Serbia in 2000. Following her basic veterinary education, she obtained her master degree (MS) in the field of veterinary anesthesiology (2002), her doctor of science degree (PhD) in the field of veterinary pathology (2009) and finished her veterinary anatomic pathology residency in 2009 at the Iowa State University (ISU). Dr. Lazic was a research assistant professor with the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at ISU (2009-2011), and Department of Veterans Affairs research scientist (2009-2012).

Dr. Lazic served as a principal investigator for several large federal studies funded by Department of Veterans Affairs with a focus on mechanisms of brain and ocular diseases. She authored and co-authored 16 manuscripts the field of veterinary pathology with a focus on ocular and brain pathology, and pathology of the respiratory system. Dr Lazic also gave numerous national and international presentations on different pathology topics, and has been national and international lecturer for different continuous education veterinary pathology courses.

Dr. Lazic is currently serving as a general pathology consultant of veterinary pathology diagnostic laboratories in Europe, Asia and United States with a special focus on pathology of eye, brain, spinal cord and pathology of neoplastic diseases. She is also a principal ophthalmic pathologist for Animal Eye Consultants of Iowa, and concurrently with Dr Grozdanic (board certified veterinary ophthalmologist) provides the only worldwide ophthalmic pathology dual opinion service where each ophthalmic specimen is comprehensively evaluated by pathologist and ophthalmologist with a goal of providing the best diagnostic value from the ophthalmic pathology sample submissions.





Sinisa Grozdanic Sinisa Grozdanic    DVM, PhD, Diplomate American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists

Dr. Grozdanic obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Belgrade, Serbia in 1998. Following his basic veterinary education, he obtained his doctor of science degree (PhD) in the field of neuroscience (2002) and finished his clinical veterinary ophthalmology residency in 2007 at the Iowa State University (ISU). Dr. Grozdanic was an assistant professor and staff ophthalmologist with the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at ISU (2007-2011).

Dr. Grozdanic published 27 manuscripts and one book chapter in the field of glaucoma, neuroprotection, autoimmune retinal disease, ocular imaging and stem cell therapy for blinding ocular diseases. He also gave more than 50 national and international presentations on advanced diagnostic and treatment modalities for different eye diseases.

Dr. Grozdanic also has the distinguished honor of being the first veterinary ophthalmologist in North America to perform artificial corneal transplants in a veterinary patient and he has developed numerous novel diagnostic and treatment routines for different canine, feline and equine ocular diseases. He is actively consulting for US Department of Defense and Secret Service canine units, and he also provided free consulting to more than 80 veterinary ophthalmologists from 6 different continents on more than 300 complex veterinary ophthalmology clinical cases.

Dr. Grozdanic performs all complex extraocular (eyelid and corneal surgeries) and intraocular (cataract, glaucoma and vitreo-retinal surgeries) procedures. His special interests include early diagnostic modalities for glaucoma and retinal diseases, advanced medical and surgical procedures for treatment of glaucoma, endoscopic ocular and orbital surgeries, laser therapy for different ocular diseases, special therapies for autoimmune retinal diseases, and stem cell based therapies for blinding ocular diseases.





Alicia Olivier Alicia Olivier    DVM, PhD, DACVP

Dr. Olivier holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University, a Ph.D. degree in veterinary pathology from Iowa State University and is a boarded anatomic pathologist. She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Pathobiology and Population Medicine at MSU-CVM and serves as the faculty director of the histology laboratory. She works closely with veterinarians to diagnose disease is a wide variety of species through necropsy and histopathologic evaluation. This evaluation often necessitates utilization of further testing or special stains to reach the diagnosis.










Alicia Olivier Charlie Johnson    DVM, PhD, DACVP (anatomic pathology)

Dr. Johnson obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota in 2003. Following graduation, he was in a mixed animal practice then returned to school at Iowa State University to obtain a PhD in veterinary pathology and complete an anatomic pathology residency. After his pathology training, he has worked as a diagnostic pathologist and has been involved in research with the USDA and University of Minnesota and has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. Although Dr. Johnson enjoys all aspects of diagnostic pathology, he has a specific interest in dermatopathology.

In addition to his duties as an anatomic pathologist for TLVetpath, he currently works as a small animal practitioner where he sees a diverse caseload. He enjoys the opportunity to interact with client veterinarians about their cases and discuss how what is seen clinically correlates with the lesions that are observed microscopically.
